Our view
The Z30 is a companion device, not a standalone product — that is the most important thing to understand before buying. If you already own a compatible Garmin golf watch, it is an elegant addition that brings laser precision into your existing setup with minimal friction. If you do not own a Garmin watch, the Z30 makes little sense — the Bushnell Tour V6 at £299 gives you a better standalone laser for less money. The 400-yard range limitation is worth noting on longer courses, though it covers the vast majority of approach shots for most UK club golfers. At the current sale price of £329.99 it is a reasonable buy for Garmin ecosystem users — at the full £389.99 the value case is less clear.
Pros
- Seamless integration with Garmin ecosystem — ranged distance appears instantly on your watch
- PlaysLike Distance is a meaningful feature for undulating UK courses
- Clean, simple device for Garmin watch owners who want laser precision
- Currently on sale at £329.99 — strong value at the promotional price
Cons
- Not a standalone device — full value only realised if you own a compatible Garmin watch or handheld
- Range limited to 400 yards — shorter than competitors at this price point
- No slope compensation — purely a laser measurement device
- No onboard GPS — course mapping requires a paired Garmin device

Existing Garmin watch owners who want to add laser precision to their game without a second independent device. The Z30 works best as a complement to the Garmin Approach S70, S44, or compatible handheld — the two devices together give you laser accuracy and full GPS course mapping in a clean integrated system.
