Nikon Coolshot Pro II Stabilized
Nikon optical stabilisation with OLED display and HYPER READ — the predecessor to the Pro III at full RRP
Key features
- Nikon optical stabilisation — steadies view and ranging laser against hand shake
- HYPER READ technology — measurement in approximately 0.3 seconds
- OLED display with bright crystal clear readout
- DUAL LOCKED ON ECHO — visual and audio cue on flag acquisition
- ID slope technology with Actual Distance Indicator LED for tournament compliance
- Continuous measurement mode for hazard distances
- Waterproof and fogproof construction
- Lightweight at 180g — lighter than the Pro III

Our view
The Coolshot Pro II Stabilized is a genuinely excellent rangefinder — Nikon optical stabilisation and HYPER READ remain best-in-class features. The honest problem is the pricing. At £489 it costs £80 more than the newer Pro III currently on sale at £409, despite being the older and slower model. The Pro III adds a faster HYPER READ, adjustable dioptre, and a newer design for less money. Unless you find the Pro II at a significant discount, the Pro III is the stronger buy at any price point where both are available. We have listed the Pro II for completeness but our recommendation is clearly the Pro III.
Pros
- Optical stabilisation is the same class-leading Nikon technology as the Pro III
- Lighter than the Pro III at 180g vs 205g
- OLED display handles variable British light conditions well
- Actual Distance Indicator LED provides clear tournament compliance signal
Cons
- At £489 it is more expensive than the newer Nikon Coolshot Pro III Stabilized currently on sale at £409
- HYPER READ at 0.3 seconds is slower than the Pro III at 0.1 seconds
- No adjustable dioptre unlike the Pro III
- No built-in cart magnet
- The Pro III is the newer, faster, better-specced model at a lower current price — difficult to recommend the Pro II at full RRP
