Our view
The Pro ZR is Shot Scope at its most premium and the DuraShield HardShell is the real differentiator — this is the most robust rangefinder under £300 on the UK market. The red/black dual optics solve a genuine problem: most LCD rangefinders struggle in bright sunshine or flat grey British light, the Pro ZR handles both. The free GPS app is a meaningful bonus that competitors either charge for or do not offer at all. The one honest caveat is that the GPS lives in the app, not the device — if you want GPS in the viewfinder, the Garmin Z82 or Bushnell Tour Hybrid are the alternatives. At £299 with no subscription fees, the Pro ZR is one of the strongest value propositions in the entire rangefinder category.
Pros
- DuraShield HardShell is genuinely robust — built for British weather without compromise
- Red/Black dual optics solve the low-light readability problem that affects competitors
- 1,500 yard range is class-leading at this price point
- Free GPS app access with no subscription is a meaningful long-term cost saving
- Built-in cart magnet with no separate accessory required
Cons
- No OLED display — LCD only at this price point (the Pro L5 has OLED at £169)
- GPS is app-only — no onboard GPS in the device itself
- Heavier than some competitors due to the hardshell construction
- x6 magnification vs x7 on the Pro L5 and Pro LX+
